Some Stuff About Space
I’ve always loved space, the universe and astronomy in general. To me, it’s not about a science so much as a philosophy. It’s a bit like existentialism - Where are we, who are we and therefore what’s the point? It’s the biggest mystery we’ll ever face and one that’s directly related to theology and religion as much as it is to science and reason....

All shades of brilliant. If you know what you’re doing. And I don’t. Still brilliant though.

The KLF Justify Burning A Million Quid
This was years ago but I still admire what they did, from the first moment I found out about it in the 90s. These two never sold out and it’s amusing that people get angry with what they did this when there are multi-millionaires who spend their own millions in both dubious and hedonistic fashions (or worse). Not conforming to the rules of success seem to irk the public so. The low point of...

DO TRY THIS: I only try to reblog things that are pretty special. Great photos, interactive movies about the universe, that sort of thing. This however is more than just great, it is spectacular. Click on the squares to make some music. Always beautiful, no matter the combination.
Tips:
1) Click and hold mouse button and drag to light up more than one square at a time
2) Open this page in a...

Here's A Little Something
…I did a while ago, then lost somewhere in the depths of my PC. I named it something stupid, saved it somewhere equally stupid and I just couldn’t find it when I went back to it. Anyway, there was much rejoice as I found it today. Spent some time tweaking it and now it’s done. I suppose. You could tweak into infinity. I’ve posted the soundcloud rather than upload here as...

'If Death Is Not The End'
Here’s a poem I read by musician Robyn Hitchcock. It’s called ‘If Death Is Not The End’ and it’s rather brilliant:
…For all eternity we don’t exist, except for now. In my gumshoe mac, I shuffled to the clifftop, Stood well back, and struck a match to light my life; And as it flared it fell in darkness Lighting nothing but itself. I saw my life fall and...

Church Bell Loop
I do a lot of looping using my Akai Headrush e2 pedal (stay awake at the back) and I’d had this tune for a while but the recordings are always really low quality. Anyway I reversed it, slapped on a huge amount of delay and it turns out it’s now sounding great. Is that cheating? Possibly but I love the fact it’s now one giant, ethereal landscape. Best to listen with headphones or...

Music Tip
I’ve listened to a bit of School of Seven Bells here and there, but heard one of their tracks being played live on Radio 2 the other day that blew me away. Part shoegaze, part goth, part pop genius, ‘I L U’ is amazing. Find it here on Spotify or just watch the vid below. Woot!

The Vision
For years I’ve talked about how when you write a song, or do anything constructive, it’s not so much yourself that does a lot of the inspiration, it’s some mystical, creative wavelength or *something* that you tap into. I heard the guy from ELO on the radio a while back explaining that when he writes a song, he doesn’t so much write it as chase it. It’s already...

Hitting the Creative Wall
Yep, here it is. A bit towering wall of shit and apathy. Gone is my inspiration. Gone is my enthusiasm and gone is my PC that I use to do my music and photo work. Damn thing is 6 years old and it’s falling apart like a doddery old man who keeps on forgetting to put his trousers on. Fixing it of course takes effort. Effort that is hidden behind that wall I was talking about. I think I can see...

Spent all evening
…writing and arranging the Christmas song that I’m planning. After laying down 8 or 9 tracks and mixing it on Audacity it turns out it’s rubbish. Oh dear. Too late to change it all now. I’d put it up here as an audio track, but I’d rather just post the finished article if I can get the band I’m in to even play it, let alone record it. Also, you really...
